ADVANCED IMPLANT SURGERY
Edentulia can be resolved with fixed teeth placement over implants even in situations of extreme bone atrophy and at any age.
Thanks to current sophisticated reconstruction techniques, pre-implant surgery always allows restoration of the anatomical conditions for the implant treatment.
The reconstruction may be minimum or may be necessary a complete restructuring of the jaw may be necessary.
Our group has performed a large number of reconstructions of the jaw with autologous bone grafts taken from intra-oral sites i.e. from the cranial bone or from the iliac wing.
The intraoral collector, from the corner of the jaw, under local anesthesia and conscious sedation, allows to the reconstruct atrophic areas of two or three teeth. The reconstruction of wide atrophies is performed with bone harvested from the cranial bone or from the iliac wing and the surgical operation is under narcosis.
The bone removed from the cranial bone allows a reduction of the duration of treatment and the total absence of post-operating discomfort or pain.
People with an active social and working life feel reluctant to undergo a long-lasting treatment with jaw reconstruction and later implant rehabilitation.
The autologous bone removal from the cranial bone will reduce the hospitalization time and will eliminate the discomforts associated with bone hip removal, where full recovery of deambulatory as well as the disappearance of pain in the removal area is not immediate. Moreover the absolute absence of intraoral pain should be emphasized in both techniques.
Immediate load fixed prosthesis avoids the waiting time between placement of implants and prosthetization on them, which according to traditional protocols, ranges from three to six months.
